Jaime Hayon Sculptures Land at Atlanta’s High Museum

The first two summers, there were installations by Hector Esrawe and Ignacio Cadena of Mexico’s Esrawe + Cadena. This summer, the third in the series, the Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta hosts Jaime Hayon—it appears that the curators have an affinity for Spanish-speaking designers. With Tiovivo, the Spanish word for carousel, it’s clear that Hayon has an affinity for playfulness. His quartet of vibrantly patterned, enormous sculptures—representing his first major U.S. commission—encompass stairs, slides, ramps, and openings, so pint-size visitors can fully immerse themselves in them. Their adult companions, meanwhile, can enjoy the live music and dance performances scheduled to take place throughout the exhibit, which runs until November 27.
